Ol'Strokers - Our Stories

The Club

WHO ARE THE OL'STROKERS CAR CLUB OF TOLEDO?

AND

HOW DID THIS GROUP OF AUTO ENTHUSIASTS GET TOGETHER AND WHY?

To begin with, a few years ago, a few friends met for breakfast once a week, usually on Wednesday morning at Schmucker's restaurant on Reynolds Road in Toledo, Ohio.

After several weeks of BS'ing and converging about cars, hot rods, racing and general information about the "Good Old Days " someone said  (quote) " We are a bunch of old strokers. "

At that moment, we, that is Don Kill, Ed Scott, Dick Visser, Dick Badyna and John Pulls decided that we all kick in $20.00 each and have a banner made to display at car shows and car related events.

The fact that we did not have any stuffy rules and conditions to belong to such a fun loving bunch of guys, caught every one's attention.

We decided, instead of calling the group, " Old Strokers ", we would change the name to " Ol'Strokers. "

From what I recall, this all got started around the year 2000.  Now, we have several both active and casual members.  They show up if and when they can, and this is why, it's great to be with, and socialize with a nice bunch of guys, who just want to have fun, and enjoy the car hobby.

Too many rules and bylaws have killed many fine clubs, that started out with good intentions.

Our motto is:

 Keep it fun

friendly

and

no crazy rules to ruin a good group

"God willing, we'll see you at the next show."
